About Me

Doing a cholo squat at Sutton House

I’m not fussed how you pronounce it – both mÉ™-RIS-É™ or ma-REE-sa are great!

That means I’m Mexican-American, originally from Southern California. I’ve lived in the UK since 2010 and acquired British citizenship in 2021.

But wait, there's more!

I thrive under pressure

With over 15 years of experience designing graphics for live broadcasting, I bring confidence in design thinking and a calm demeanour to fast-paced environments.

I've revamped visual design systems for world-class events

However, my interest in design extends well beyond these prestigious events (which include Royal Ascot and the Breeders' Cup).

I'm more interested in how I can improve people's lives through design

I design with accessibility in mind from the start. This builds upon my previous experience, facilitating accessible creative workshops through the NHS.

I'm a lifelong learner and incurably curious

This curiosity led me to study UX Design through Experience Haus, Interaction Design Foundation, Designlab and Udacity.

I've also studied web development with Code First Girls, and service design and management with Northeastern University London.

I'm also a jazz singer

And I frequently gig around London.

In my (completely biased) opinion, this sharpens my collaborative skills and enhances my creative flexibility.
